Old Norse myths and a fleamarket find of a stitch dictionary provided the basis for the inspiration for the cowl: Skade is the ancient Norse godess of Winter, who loved skiing, hunting and the song of the wolves at Trymheim, her home in the mountains. The cables and the stockinette section represent the winding paths of a skier down the hillside of Trymheim.
