Tundra Tamer Cowl
This is just one of many patterns available in my book, Mosaic Knitting Workshop!
My book can be found via Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Bookmarked Hub, and other major book retailers. Signed copies of my book are available on my personal website here. If you would like to purchase the yarn used for this pattern, click here for an affiliate link (I recieve a very small commission at no cost to you!).
After moving back to Minnesota in the middle of winter after over fifteen years away (most of which spent deep in the heart of Texas), I quickly remembered how fashion often gets thrown out the door to function when the arctic winds start to blow! I designed this super chunky cowl with fresh pops of color to make the most frigid mornings feel a bit warmer.
If you don’t need such a warm cowl, feel free to swap in a lighter weight yarn and smaller needles (you might need to add a couple of repeats to reach your desired size!).
Yarn
Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick (80% acrylic, 20% wool), super bulky, 170g (97 m/106 yds), in the following shades:
- Pumpkin (133A); 1 ball
- Bluegrass (550F); 1 ball
- Lollipop (191K); 1 ball
Knitting Needles
Size 9.0mm (US 13) needles
Size 10.0mm (US 15) needles
Other Tools and Materials
Stitch markers (optional)
Tension/Gauge
9.5 sts and 16.5 rows measure 10 x 10cm (4 x 4in) over mosaic motif using 10.0mm needles and over a stockinette stitch using 9.0mm needles.
Tension is not critical for this pattern, the fabric is very stretchy by nature, but may affect yarn requirements.
Finished Size
Approximately 40cm (15.5in) deep and 71cm(28in) circumference after steam blocking
