Tweed Is Still the New Black is a relaxed sweater dress worked from the top down in fingering-weight yarn. This raglan-sleeved and tunic-length garment is a comfortable, comforting companion on cool days. Waist shaping worked at front and back pieces gives you a flattering hourglass look while the generously A-lined hem allows for comfort of movement.

Ever-practical set-in pockets and subtle garter-stitch accents give this understated sweater dress some visual interest. Worn over a pair of leggings or skinny jeans, Tweed Is Still the New Black will become a wardrobe staple.

MATERIALS
Yarn

• Rowan Rowanspun 4 Ply (100% wool, 148 m/25 g, 162 yd/0.88 oz), approx. 9 (10, 11, 13, 14) [15, 16, 17, 19] skeins. The sample is knitted in the colorway #712 Jade.
• Or Isager Tweed (70% wool, 30% mohair, 200 m/50 g, 219 yd/1.76 oz), approx. 7 (8, 9, 9, 10) [11, 12, 13, 14] skeins.
• Or fingering-weight yarn, approx. 1300 (1500, 1650, 1800, 1950) [2150, 2300, 2500, 2700] m / 1450 (1650, 1800, 2000, 2150) [2350, 2500, 2700, 2950] yd.

Needles

• 3.5 mm / US #4 long circular needle for stockinette (or size needed to obtain gauge)
• 3.0 mm / US #2½ long circular needle (80–100 cm / 32–40”) for garter stitch bands
• 3.0 mm / US #2½ short circular needle (40 cm / 16”) for the neck band
• If not working in magic loop, double-pointed needles in the same sizes for the sleeves and pocket bags.

Notions

• Darning needle
• Spare needles for picking up pocket stitches
• 5 stitch markers: a set of 4 and 1 unique beginning-of-round (BOR) marker
• Waste yarn, extra cable, or circular needle for holding sleeve stitches

TECHNIQUES USED
The pattern uses the following techniques: long-tail cast-on, casting on in the middle of a row, jogless garter stitch in the round, set-in pockets, and three-needle bind-off.
