Summer is gone, that die has been cast. But don’t despair! Twice the Dice lets you celebrate the Fall in style! This wonderful shawlette is both practical and elegant, simple yet chic. The delightful design allows you to stay fashionable in the Fall, with no need to gamble on the unpredictable autumnal weather. It will keep you warm in the early days of winter, or look stylish in a late Indian summer. What’s more, it is incredibly fun to knit! There is no seaming, no weaving in loose ends, and as each square looks different the dice are never dull!

Twice the Dice is a fun to knit modular design. It works best with yarns that have a short or medium color gradient. Originally designed for fingering weight, Twice the Dice is also suitable for thicker or thinner yarns, as it comes in two sizes: medium and large. I knitted the large version with a little more than 2 balls of Schoppel Zauberball - 965 yards/885meters, but if you only have two balls available I recommend the medium version. However, the instructions can be easily adjusted according to your needs, so if neither the medium nor large is the perfect size, no problem!

Twice the Dice is comprised of two different sizes of squares. Once you have knitted one of them, you will already know how to knit the other. Simple and straightforward! So, what is so special about this pattern? Well, most knitters I know – myself included –dislike seaming and weaving in loose ends. Therefore, I found a way to join the modules as you go. Twice the Dice is knitted in one piece! No seaming and no weaving in of loose ends required (apart from the beginning and the end - and, of course, if you need a new ball of yarn).

This pattern comes with written and charted instructions, directions that describe the process of joining the squares in detail, and a schematic if you prefer just to glance at instructions. And if you are new to joining modules, no problem! You will find photo tutorials as well! This makes Twice the Dice a wonderful travel project that can be knitted anytime, anywhere! Since every square looks different, it is an exciting shawl to knit from the first stitch to the last.

Happy Knitting!
