With a slip-stitch pattern echoing woven fabric, this yoke motif makes great use of a gradient set of mini skeins. The textured stitch pattern would look equally attractive in a solid-colour yarn.

This cardigan is worked flat from the bottom up in one piece. Sleeves (worked in the round) are joined at the beginning of the circular yoke. After some raglan shaping to create a comfortable fit, and short rows to raise the back neckline, the fun begins with the colourful woven stitch pattern that provides structure through the shoulders and back neck. False seams are worked at the body sides and on the sleeves, and later sewn together with mattress stitch to further create a structured construction.

Substitution Notes
The yoke is worked with a gradient set of mini skeins in fingering weight and the body is worked in a single colour of fingering weight. Yarn used in sample is hand-dyed sock yarn, but commercially dyed yarn would work equally well. Dive into your stash of leftovers for the yoke and pair it with a few skeins of solid.
