Available in four sizes, this oversized garment is knitted sideways. It features an unusual open work method that produces nearly square eyelets and is entirely hand-manipulated. It would not be possible to knit this open-work with a lace carriage. The model garment was knitted on a mid-gauge (6.5mm) machine with stitch size 8. You might be able to work this garment on a bulky machine, keeping in mind that the number of needles dictates the length of the sweater and that you would probably have to knit a somewhat shorter version given that the pattern calls for 116-134 needles for a sweater that is from 18 to 21” long.
