VERSION #2 - Two strands of lace weight yarn held together
Filatura Di Crosa Golden Line Superior (70% cashmere, 25% silk, 5% merino); 330 yd (302 m), .88 oz (25g), 1 skein ‘black’
and
Filatura Di Crosa Golden Line Nirvana (100% extrafine merino); 372 yd (302 m), .88 oz (25g), 1 skein ‘ebony’
US 6 (4.0 mm) needles / 29 st = 4” (10cm)

Finished size: 6-3/4 ” (17cm) wide, 59” (150 cm) long after blocking

This scarf pattern had its beginnings shortly after I read Clara Parkes’ KNITTER’S REVIEW: “Yarn Pairing: Filatura di Crosa Superior and Nirvana”. Clara’s description of the yarn pairing sounded like something not to be missed. I was happy to see these yarns at a new LYS, and bought them in the color black.

I did some trial swatches with the two yarns, and my eventual choice was the ‘Double Basket Weave’ stitch pattern. It has reversibility, one of my very favorite qualities in a scarf. I added another of my must-haves for scarves: neat and tidy borders on all four edges. When the scarf was finished (It is Version #2 above.), I began to really appreciate how really difficult it is to take photos of black knitted objects.

Eventually I decided to make a second scarf with a skein of Malabrigo Sock that my Mom had bought when it first came out. This time, thankfully, it was in my Mom’s color choice and quite a bit easier to photograph than the black. (This one is Version #1 above.)

It is a simple pattern, with just knit and purl stitches. Included are a chart and written directions. I hope that some knitters will find and enjoy this pattern.
