Two-Tone Plaid Placemats
Make these versatile placemats in any color to match your decor. They can be used as individual placemats or as a table runner for a centerpiece. The placemats were created by alternating a light and dark tone of cotton crochet thread, holding two strands together, and accented with a coordinating metallic thread. The design is crocheted in both directions using a combination of sc and long hdc which are worked into the previous row. The long hdc are worked with one color on odd rows and the contrasting color on even rows creating the reversible effect. Instructions are included to leave a length of thread at each end for fringe, or weave in all the ends and add a border. A chart is also included for reference. Skill Level: Easy.
