Two-Tone Triangle Purse
Pattern description from Bag Style: “Mary D’Alton turned to Japanese origami for the construction of this clever bag. She knitted two diamonds - one burgundy and one chartreuse - then folded them together into a triangle shape. She made the handles by working the last three stitches of two of the diamonds into a long piece of I-cord, which she sewed to the top edge of the opposite diamond. To keep the construction simple, Mary felted the whole thing to firm up the knitted fabric, making a sturdy pouch-style bag - no need for a lining; no need for a closure.”
Finished Size: About 18” (45.5 cm) wide at base and 11” (28 cm) tall after felting, excluding handles.
Yarn: Worsted weight (#4 Medium). Harrisville Designs New England Highland (100% wool; 200 yd (183 m)/100 g): #39 russet (burgundy) and #07 tundra (chartreuse), 1 ball each.
Needles: Size 6 (4 mm): straight and set of 2 double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Tapestry needle; net laundry bag.
Note about gauge: Swatch both colors of yarn to make sure they have the same gauge.
