While cables are traditionally worked on a background of reverse stockinette (purl stitches), I love the more subtle texture that’s created when you work those same cables on a stockinette ground (knit stitches). Worked in such a way they create a fluid texture that looks more like part of the fabric rather than braiding into a pattern atop of it.
