Umbra
When I designed this hat, my intention was to make a wardrobe staple that would allow beginner brioche knitters the chance to expand their skills. Umbra is knit in the round from the bottom up, using only basic brioche stitches until the crown decreases (and then only one type of decrease). Umbra can be knit exactly as to pattern, but it’s also infinitely customizable. You can have as many (or as few!) stripes as you like with just two colors, or go stash-busting and add in as many color changes as you want! Plus, this hat is completely reversible! The yarn I chose for my samples, The Lamb & Kid Tod, is an amazing blend of yak and cashmere, soft and lovely, and comes in an abundance of beautiful hues for endless color pairing fun!
