Know a little girl who loves ballet? Or bears? Or just an excellent reason to twirl? Meet Luna, a unicorn kids jumper with a single-colour intarsia motif across the front, a knitted horn and ear, a rainbow striped sleeve, and a multicolour fringe mane sewn along the underarm seam.

One sleeve is striped in rainbow colours, the other is plain, and the fringe runs along the seam to complete the mane.

Designed by Jane Burns, with 18 years of experience creating exclusive baby and children’s knitting patterns.

The pattern is rated confident beginner. The intarsia section uses only one contrast colour, keeping it very manageable. The shoulder opening fastens with three buttons, which also makes it practical for getting over small heads. Construction is seamed with set-in sleeves.

Worked in Scheepjes Stone Washed DK (or any DK weight yarn), this is a great stash busting project.

NEEDLES: Straight 3.25mm and 4mm. Circulars 3.25mm (optional for working neck).

ALSO NEEDED: Darning needle, stitch markers, stitch holder, sewing needle and thread, oddments of dark grey or black DK yarn, 3 buttons approx. 1.5cm diameter.

GAUGE: 22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm over stocking stitch on 4mm needles.
