Uniform, Build your own Cardigan
This pattern gives you knitters a lot of freedom! Pattern includes instructions for long and short body lengths, three different body shapes (fitted, a-line, or none), fitted or bell-shaped sleeves, simple or shaped neckbands, and patch or inset pockets.
(PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A DIFFERENT VERSION OF THE PATTERN THAN IS IN THE UNIFORM KNIT & SEW BOOK, this version has fewer options and is made up only in worsted weight)
Longer Version with A-line Waist Shaping, Bell Sleeves, Patch Pockets, Simple Neckband, and Waistband Tie (Shown in Owl, Tawny):
1330 (1425, 1535, 1680, 1805, 1930, 2070, 2185, 2315) yds
Subtract 30 yds for no waist shaping
Subtract 60 (60, 70, 85, 90, 100, 115, 120, 125) yds for Fitted Sleeves
Subtract 85 yds if omitting Waistband Tie
Shorter version with Fitted Waist, Fitted Sleeves, and Inset Pockets, and Shaped Neckband (shown in Shelter, Cast Iron):
1005 (1085, 1170, 1285, 1390, 1490, 1605, 1700, 1805) yds
Add 20 yds for Shorter A-line
Add 60 (60, 70, 85, 90, 100, 115, 120, 125) yds for Bell Sleeves
Also shown in Quince & Co. Owl in Elf, with 5” positive ease. This version of Uniform (top) has straight waist shaping, inset pockets, and a simple band.
Errata
Sleeves - Bell shaped should say:
Begin sleeve shaping
Next row inc row: (RS) K2, m1-R, knit to last 2 sts, m1-L, k2 (2 sts inc’d)—46 (50, 50, 52, 54, 56, 56, 58, 60) sts.
Long Body, No shaping should say - Change to larger needles, after the garter stitch hem trim has been worked, before you begin St st.
Sleeve length missing in schematic - 18”
