Mitred squares construction for front as for the green pattern. In this version of the pattern the back is in two pieces which are knitted onto the sides as you go. It has a buttonhole opening in the middle of the back. You can do either pattern in Aran weight and the resulting cushion will be 40cm square.

The green cushion version available as a separate download has a much simpler back and so is less challenging to knit.
