Union Station Cardigan
The Union Station Cardigan was first published in Interweave Knits Spring 2015. Since then it has become one of my most knit patterns! Updates to this pattern upon independent publication (Sept. 2016) include extended sizes as well as written instructions for the lace chart. I love this cardigan for it’s open front and lace yoke, and it’s simple top-down construction. It’s the kind of thing that is a staple in my wardrobe. Knit in a sport weight yarn at a loose gauge, it has a lot of drape and swing, but could easily be knit in a DK or light worsted weight.
A note about sizing: Sizes 32.25 (35.75, 38.5, 40.5, x, x, x, x)” will have enough room in the fronts of the cardigan to meet or overlap in the front (if cardigan size is chosen for bust size suggested). Sizes x (x, x, x, 42.25, 44.25, 46.5, 48.5)” will not have enough width in the front of the cardigan to overlap or meet. If you’d like wider fronts, consider making additional increases before separating sleeves and body. (For instance, by working the last set of yarn overs as double yarn overs.) This will alter your stitch counts.
From Interweave: A well-shaped cardigan is worked from the top down and features an ever-expanding eyelet chevron and a circular yoke construction. Even without buttons, the clever shaping keeps the fronts in place. The swingy shape and bright color give the Union Station Cardigan a happy air.
