Unique Melody
This pattern is named after my sister Melody, a lovely person who has never been afraid to do her own thing.
Make a scarf or a wrap or anything in between! You can decide on the width and length of this piece before or after you cast on.
This pattern is for those times when you just want to cast on with a lovely yarn and think about your final project as you go. Knit on the bias, the piece starts with one candle flame motif at the corner. More are gradually added until the desired width, then the body of the piece is kept on the bias by the continual addition of flame motifs on the right while eliminating flame motifs on the left. Gradual reduction in motifs finishes the final shape of a parallelogram (see schematic pictured). This construction also allows you to pick any yarn you fancy without too much planning ahead (just make sure you have enough yarn!). I like the look of chunky lace, and the samples shown were knit in cozy, heavy worsted weight yarns. However, this pattern works for any yarn at any gauge--make your own unique Melody!
