Unparallel'd
Upon her death, Cleopatra is called “… a lass unparallel’d” (5.2) by her faithful maid Charmian. Shakespeare ensured that his Cleopatra would remain noble, transcending time and cultures as one of his greatest heroes. Whether teasing Antony or resisting Caesar Augustus, Cleopatra would have been impeccably attired. Unparallel’d, a beaded hairpin lace necklace, takes advantage of Habu Textiles 1/20 Silk Stainless Steel yarn to create an elegant accessory fit for a queen.
A fantastic introductory hairpin lace crochet project, the necklace is made of three short strips, giving the creator a chance to practice the simple cast on and beading techniques. Strips are joined via cable join and attached to a cord with simple crochet stitches. The necklace is finished with brass findings.
