This is the pattern based on my award-winning entry for the Jamieson & Smith Fire Festival KAL 2017.

The original Sweater was knitted for me and by me as just another sweater to keep me warm. I just cast on and off I went. I had no knitting pattern to work on, only my knitted swatch. Otherwise I made it up as I went along.

When I wore it to Shetland Wool Week in 2017, it got such a positive reaction from so many people. It was the first time I had ever been chased down the street by somebody wanting to take a picture of my sweater. Many people have asked me to write the pattern. So here it is.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL
Intermediate. For the knitter familiar with Fair Isle knitting and shaping, this is a straight forward bottom up sweater with plenty to keep it interesting. This would be rather ambitious as a first fair isle project or first sweater.

Shade 81 Dark Grey - 6, 6, 6, 7, 7 balls
Shade 54 Mid Grey - 3, 4, 4, 4, 5 balls
Shade 36 Navy - 2, 2, 2, 3, 3 balls
Shade FC38 Brown Mix - 2, 2, 2, 2, 2 balls
Shade 91 Yellow - 2, 2, 3, 3, 3 balls
Shade 25 Brick Red - 2, 2, 3, 3, 3 balls
Shade 132 Cyan - 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 ball
Shade 9113 - Burgundy - 1, 1, 2, 2, 2

PLEASE NOTE: This garment was designed with waist shaping and was originally designed to fit me. I am pear-shaped. This means that the number of stitches at the bust are less than the number of stitches at the waist. Should you wish to make this sweater with additional positive ease or no waist shaping, you will need to recalculate the number of stitches to cast on and consider that as a result of this, you will also need to recalculate the stitch numbers and number of chart repeats after the body and sleeves are joined as this may change your yoke shaping. These changes may result in additional yarn requirements.
