From the Knit Picks Website:

I’ve always been a bit of a non-conformist. Idon’t follow trends, and can’t say that I’ve ever dressed “in style”. I take pleasure in being different from the crowd. I’ve always had the feeling of swimming upstream when others were going in the other direction. There have been times when I’ve wished I could just go along with the crowd, but that’s just not in my personality. So I embrace the upstream feeling and swim as hard as I can. This scarf, with its fish swimming in both directions, is my tribute to that sentiment.

The fish in this scarf are created by twisted stitches, and cable crossings in which only one stitch is crossed over only one other. In another nod to non-conformity, the fish in the center panel does not start on the same row as the other two. It starts on the following wrong-side row, and ends on the right-side row after the other two fish have ended. All of the cable crossings are done on the right side.
