Pattern Description from Interweave Online Store:
The designer has used a simple slip-stitch rib worked in the round and ingenious calf shaping to create these uptown abbreviated knee socks/leg warmers. The instep cover and foot strap, worked on straight needles and edged with a contrasting color, will help keep your feet warm, and twisted-yarn tassels sewn onto the sides provide a bit of flair.

Finished Size: About 12” (30.5 cm) unstretched circumference at top of leg and 11½“ (29 cm) long from top of leg to top of heel opening.

Yarn: Baruffa Merinos Sei 6-Ply (100% merino; 137 yd [125 m]/50 g): #20266 light grey (MC), 4 balls; #1205 white (CC), 1 ball.

Yarn weight: #3 - Light

Gauge: 26 sts and 48 rows/rnds = 4” (10 cm) in slip stitch rib patt (to check row/rnd gauge, measure straight up along a single column of knit sts on the RS and count each st in the column as 2 rows).

Needles: Size 5 (3.75 mm): straight and set of 4 or 5 double-pointed (dpn). One size 8 (5-mm) needle for binding off. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Tapestry needle; stitch markers; four 3/8” (1-cm) diameter snaps; sharp-pointed sewing needle and matching thread for attaching snaps.
