Knit bottom up, Ursa Major has a soft and warm double-knitted brim, and a reversible body pattern, to provide for ultimate comfort and versatility. The pattern is an effortless, meditative knit that provides the Giver with well needed time for herself.

Yarns Used: Feel Good Yarn Company SilverSpun Sock (Sock; 87% Combed Cotton, 5% Silver, 5% Nylon, 3% Spandex; 450 yds). One skein in Natural.

Needle:
US 3 (3.75mm) 16” (40cm) circular needle.
US 3 (3.75mm) single-pointed straight needles (optional for cast-on)
US 3 (3.75mm) double pointed needles for bind-off (5)

Yardage: 225 yds (206 meters)

Gauge: 52 rows and 30 stitches = 4” (10cm) after blocking.

Other Notions: Darning needle, stitch marker

Special Techniques:
Italian cast-on
Knit 2 below: instead of knitting the stitch as a normal knit stitch, insert the needle into the loop two rows below, then complete the stitch as a normal knit stitch.

Sample Size:
Fits head circumference 19-22” (48- 56cm)

Larger hat than 22” (56cm)
If you are looking to make a larger hat, but only have one skein avail- able, you may want to change the brim from double-knitting to a sim- ple 1x1 ribbing with a simple long-tail cast-on, to adjust for the extra yarn needed.

The pattern is worked in multiple of 4 sts, so if you are looking to in- crease the hat in size, always cast on a multiple of 4 sts, such as 140, 144, 148, and so on.
