Ursa Major the Bear Hug Cowl
Cozy, supremely soft against your skin and ohh so adorable, the plush Ursa Major Bear Hug Cowl will keep you toasty no matter where you go. Whether you’re star-gazing, out on a hike, at the library, in a chilly office or taking a road-trip, Ursa Major is there to keep you cozy on your journey!
Ursa Major will wrap you in warmth without the extra bulk while being stylish and playful… and besides, who wouldn’t want a bear hug? The keyhole style closure easily slips around the bear’s head, allowing you wear the cowl without ever having to tussle your hairdo!
The Bear Hug Cowl is worked in the round and flat. The bear’s head is knit in the round, beginning at the nose and finishing at the neck. The head is firmly stuffed then the upper and lower sections of the neck are closed by working the top and bottom stitches together. The cowl is then worked flat, continuing seamlessly from the bear’s neck to the keyhole. The keyhole is worked in two sections then rejoined and continued until the end of the cowl. The ears are added after the bear’s head and cowl are completed, and are worked in the round.
These instructions are for an average adult sized cowl. To resize the cowl to suit your needs, simply work fewer or additional rows before working the keyhole. If lengthening the cowl, you may need an additional skein of yarn.
Approximate finished measurements: Approximately 31” long from nose to end of cowl and 6¾“ at its widest point.
