designed for the mYak virtual retreat 2021
update 04/26: correction of french translation*
the name Vaike comes from Estonian vaikne and means “calm” and “silence”, which seemed the perfect name for the mediative effect that you get when knitting the rhythmic pattern of this shawl … keep calm and enjoy the silence ;)
Vaike is worked from the narrow point of the left edge. Stitches are increased every RS row in the cable pattern and then onward into the Stockinette stitch section. A cute 3 x 1 ribbing is worked last. The combination of cables, stockinette and ribbing give this shawl a sophisticated yet casual look.
Yarn
mYak Baby Yak Lace (383 yds (350m) per 50g),
5 skeins (yarn is held double throughout),

or approximately 930 yds (850 m) of a heavy fingering/sport weight yarn held single
