Valparaiso Sweater
V A L P A R A I S O S W E A T E R
A comfortable oversized bohemian sweater, named after the fantastic graffiti-adorned harbor city of Valparaiso in Chile. A place where people are the friendliest, most helpful, and open-minded I have encountered. Music fills the air, there’s dancing in small squares, and musicians of all kinds are on the streets and buses. Dogs stroll through the streets and join you on a little walk…
The sweater knits up loosely in 4 strands of Mohair Luxe, becoming the coziest bohemian addition to your wardrobe!
Size: ONE SIZE
Chest circumference: Approx. 114 cm when lying flat
(adjustable with decrease as needed)
Full length at the back: 87 cm
Yarn: Lang Yarns Mohair Luxe. 25 grams = 175 m. 77% kid mohair 23% silk.
16 skeins in assorted colors (of your choice) each weighing 25 grams (175 meters). When purchasing a kit, you will receive the colors I used in my sweater with some tips on color blending. The kit consists of 20 skeins of Mohair Luxe.
Needles: 9 mm circular needles (60 cm). 9 mm double pointed needles and 40 cm circular needles for the sleeves. 8 mm 40 or 60 cm circular needles for the neckline.
Gauge: Approx. 10–11 stitches in stockinette stitch = 10 cm on 9 mm needles.
Color: This sweater is worked with 4 strands of kid silk. Change one of the threads to a new color every round or at random places. This way, the color transition will flow smoothly regardless of the colors you choose to use. If you want to use some of the yarn ends like I did with beads, just poke the threads out from where you changed color on the back.
