This is the result of several attempts to create a sock pattern that has parts that are knitted in different directions. I like the various sideway patterns that are around, but they tend not to fit too well, as the fabric is less stretchy across, and I needed some sort of allowance for my high instep as well.

Having knitted simple basic socks before will help you with this, and you definitely should NOT have problems with purling, since this is in effect knitted as flat stocking stitch. There is also a whopper of a long seam to be grafted, so you should be prepared for that as well…
