Very Simple Baby Mitts
This is a very simple baby mitten pattern, that can be whipped up in an evening or two. It is designed to fit a baby with a wrist measurement of between 10 - 12 cm, with a little room for growing. Layering the long cuff over garments and under coats will help keep it in place on little hands.
The mittens are knit in the round, and then grafted together at the finger tips. They are joined together using a crochet chain or I-cord.
Size: (at gauge given)To fit approx 9 - 18 month old.
14 cm / 5.5 inches circumference.
16 cm / 6.25 inches length.
Gauge:20 stitches & 32 rounds per 10 cm / 4 inches, in stocking stitch, worked in the round.
Yarn: 64 metres of next-to-skin-soft aran or worsted weight yarn.
Other materials / notions:
Stitch marker.
(Optional) Crochet hook, 4 mm.
Darning needle for weaving in ends.
For blocking: pins, towel, flat surface such as towel or foam mats etc.
