Vice Versa is a reversible cowl with two interesting sides. One of them is a fluffy cozy simple stockinette section, while the other one has an eye-catching Fair Isle pattern. Which one is the inside, which one is the outside? That’s all up to you! This cowl is worked using three different strands of yarns: two contrasting colors of your favorite DK weight yarn for the Fair Isle section, and for the stockinette section, one fuzzy lace yarn (mohair, angora, alpaca. etc.) that is held together with one of your basic yarns. The cowl is worked in the round as a big tube, then folded in half and joined to create two warm layers, resulting in a beautiful, seamless result.

This pattern is highly customizable!
All the informations are provided to make your own perfect cowl!

  • 3 lengths are provided - you can pick between a narrow cowl that will be warm and quickly made, a slouchy cowl that’s perfect for everyday use (pictured), or a long cowl that can be wrapped around your neck. And if none of those lengths are right for you, you can cast on a different number of stitch to achieve your perfect length.
  • It can also be made higher, by working more rows on both sections.
  • Your gauge can differ. You can pick any yarn from fingering to heavy worsted. Simply make sure to cast on the number of stitches that will give you the length you want.
  • You can work with the extra fuzzy yarn on the stockinette section, or decide to use only the plain yarn.
  • Some advanced techniques are used in this pattern (provisional cast-on and grafting). If you’re not quite there yet in your knitting journey, you can use easier techniques.
