Villanelle
As the name suggests, this shawl is inspired by the Villanelle, a form of poetry with a pattern of repeated lines and two rhymes.
A good villanelle is like a dance and in the end, the two lines come together in a surprising way. In this shawl, two stitch patterns dance around each other: lace diamonds and slip stitch cables.
There are 4 sections separated by garter stitch ridges. In every section, the stitch patterns change slightly and in the final section, the two patterns are united. Villanelle is finished with a few rows of garter stitch and an I-Cord Bind-off.
For my sample, I used 1 skein Wollmeise Pure (150gr = 525m / 575 yds). This pattern has been tested. Head over to the project tab to see the beautiful shawls knitted by my testers!
