Inspiration for the Vinifera shawl came from the rich colors of this scrumptious Mercedes yarn by FiberObsessions. The combination of the green teal and purple reminded me of the vineyards and grape vines growing on trellises, so I designed the lace to look like grape leaves.

Vinifera is worked in one piece from the bottom up starting with the deep lace border. Two sets of short rows shape the shawl into a larger-scale crescent. For additional interest and some unexpected sparkle, the lace is beaded throughout; however, the beads are optional and the pattern can be worked without them.

Pattern was originally exclusive to Yarnorama during the 2016 Hill Country Yarn Crawl.
