Volare is an open sweater with a cape-like silhouette and dramatic batwing sleeves reminiscent of the 1980’s. Hence the name Volare, which means ‘to fly’ in Latin. The sweater is designed with minimalist and elegant details such as a rolled neck and stockinette stitch as well as a faux seam down the back created by purl stitches. The combination of the heavy ‘Kamgarn’ and silk mohair enhances the look for a drapey effect

CONSTRUCTION

The collar is worked in the round, after which you separate and begin increases for the shoulders. Later, you separate the front and back, which are worked flat separately and which form the armholes. Stitches are picked up for the sleeves and are first worked flat to create an opening for the body, then joined and continued in the round with decreases. The rest of the body is worked flat separately at the end.

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY

Intermediate to advanced - due to the atypical construction. There are no difficult techniques.
