Wabi Sabi Gauntlets
A basic and beautiful pattern that can create all kinds of Wabi Sabi Gauntlets for you and yours.
Knit a pair in a luxury fine, featherweight silk and wool mix yarn that’s a rushing rain fall of grays, blues and charcoal like those shown.
Or use hand-dyed, DK wool to make a pair the same as Outlander Claire’s grey black ones which she wears a lot in Season 1 when not wearing her Inner Wild Celtic Mitts.
Perhaps you prefer the gorgeous naturally rustic Wabi Sabi Gauntlets worn by Mrs Fitz - these are Connemara Donegal wool versions in oatmeal shade knit on 5 mm needles using the same pattern stitch count.
Jamie and other Clansmen show you how they look knitted up in chunky and aran wool Here you see Dougal wearing Debbie Bliss Donegal Chunky Tweed held double, for example.
And Jamie has Harris wool held triple gauntlets and boot toppers. You’ll see them worn as wrist warmers, gauntlets, kilt boot toppers and leg warmers in various aran and chunky-weight wools.
This is a great pattern I’ve used to knit hundreds of gauntlets for dearhearts over the years using all kinds of yarns and various sizes of needles.
Try using your favourite Chunky, Aran, Sport, Worsted, DK, fingering or sock yarn.

Hand knitting is a time-honoured way to liberate your inner wild, to be mindful, creative, content.
It feels good to have space in our lives for growth and expansion and making something new in the world is so fulfilling. So while I’ve written this pattern showing you exactly how I made the original item at the same time I encourage you to loosen up, free your creativity and let your individuality shine.
