Waffle Vest
This beautiful waffle stitch pattern is created with just a simple knit and purl combination.
With the small air pockets the waffle stitch creates, the final knitted fabric is very light yet very warm.
To elevate the simplicity of the waffle stitch itself, I designed the overall construction to be very clean yet bold in its details.
The pattern begins with creating two identical base pieces and then combining them together. The design elements then build from there. There are NO pick ups needed to create the arm holes, as the armhole shaping is integrated directly into the waffle stitch pattern. Only the back has short-row shoulder shaping. The front then wraps around the shoulder to combine with the back.
The neck is doubled and seamed inside. This added weight of the doubled neck helps ground the design, and pull all the details together.
This vest is a very versatile and comfortable piece. With its large armholes yet structured elements, it can be dressed down or up, while also being relaxed enough to wear around the house!
YARN
Sport ~ DK weight yarn.
The sample is knitted with Daruma “Merino DK” (this yarn is 40g)
