You need to get the gauge to be 20-21st in 4inches (10cm) in stockinette stitch.

This hat pattern will help you to make a hat exactly like the pictured one! The pattern is for newborn, 0-6m, 6-12m, 12-24m, 2-5 years and 5-8 years.

Recommended yarn: any DK weight yarn to obtain the gauge.
The samples were made using Cascade Superwash 220 and 4.5mm / US7 needles, Baby Hugs Light and 5mm / US8 needles, Brocco Pima 100 and 4mm needles.

You will need: yarn (up 80 grams for the biggest size), knitting needles to obtain the gauge (please make a gauge swatch!), darning needle to weave in the yarn ends and to sew the back of the hat.
