Walden Waves Wrap
(The pattern is one of 35 patterns in a collection called Dreaming of Shetland… it’s a project to raise funds for Deborah Robson’s research on Shetland sheep. Deb wrote the magnificent Fleece and Fiber Sourcebook. Many designers, knitters, photographer, models, donated time and resources so that all the proceeds could go directly to Deb.)
This piece is a superior replacement for an old woven wrap I took with me on many travels. It can be wrapped around shoulders or used as a lap blanket for warmth, or folded up to make an impromptu pillow. This wrap is the same size as my old standby, yet more colorful and lighter weight. It’s also made of American wool, by a family-owned yarn company.
This pattern includes a knit-on i-cord side edging which is easy and makes a smooth finish. The crochet cast on creates an exact match to the bound off final edge. If you join yarns as you change colors (instructions included in pattern for the Russian Join), there will be very little finishing when you are done.
