This pattern is for one of my most ornately cabled warm pocket shawls. The focal cable comes to us from the Shetland Islands and is combined with a tightly plaited cable stitch, that also comes to us from the Shetland Islands. The pockets ensure that the shawl will stay comfortably on your shoulders. If you love knitting cables, you’ll enjoy this shawl made using light worsted weight yarn, guaranteeing that you’ll be warm on a cool spring evening.

The pocket stitch is the same as the border stitch, and not as easily seen in the photographs.

Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a basic knowledge of cable knitting).

The cable focal stitch are both charted and written out line by line. There is a diagram contained within the pattern to assist you with pocket placement, and there are also instructions for an optional crocheted border. The optional border is the ONLY crochet in the pattern.
