Warp and Weft Blanket
This pattern can be found for free on my blog here.
An ad-free, print-friendly PDF can be found on Etsy here.
With a unique arrangement of simple granny squares and rectangles and clever use of color, this blanket looks like it is woven--hence the warp and weft name.
Using 48 wee bits of color and a main color, the blanket works up quickly and is a fun twist on the traditional granny. Add a pompom edging and it adds even more colorful whimsy. You can find a tutorial for the pom edging on my blog here.
The pattern includes:
- Stitch abbreviations (US terms), special stitches, and complete notes sections
- Photo-tutorial on pom edging
- Placement Diagram for positioning of motifs and color arrangement
- Join-as-you-go instructions (but you may join in any method you choose)
- Written instructions for making 3 different motifs shown, border and pom edging
Stitches used: ch, sc, sl st, dc (other special stitches detailed in the pattern)
Dimensions: Blanket including border and edging = 42in (107cm) X 55in (140cm)
Square motif = 3.25in (8.3cm)
Skill Level: Easy
Yarn: I used 48 of the 50 10g balls of Scheepjes River Washed/Stone Washed Colour Pack and 3 balls of Scheepjes Colour Crafter for the main color.
Hook: G (4mm)
