Waste not want not hat and scarf
The waste not want not beanie hat and scarf patterns were inspired by the sweater design of the same name.
They are both quick makes using 5 strands of yarn (in varying weights) held together. The hat uses a 12mm crochet hook (with a 6mm and single strand of chunky weight for the brim) and the scarf a 15mm for more drape. This is intended to be a stashbusting design to help you use up small amounts of left over yarn.
The beanie hat is simple top down construction using single crochet for the body and half double crochet for the brim (US terms).
The scarf is worked in rows using the same singe crochet based stitch pattern.
The hat pictured used about 130g of yarn in a mixture of weights from fingering to aran for the body of the hat and chunky for the brim (used with a 6mm crochet hook).
The scarf used 450g, but you can easily change the length and width to accommodate the yarn you have available.
Guidance is given in the pattern for adjusting the sizes
