This pattern is designed to help people become comfortable and familiar with BASIC 2-color Brioche Stitch.

Both the hat & the cowl are worked in the round.

There is both pattern instruction and 1.5 pages of technique ‘guidance’ to help a novice make and use this stitch.
The hat & cowl have a lot of stretch (give), inherent with the Brioche stitch, however if you wish to make the hat larger, increase by “2’s” is mandatory for the stitches to work out. This will impact the decreases, unless you increase by “8” stiches- which will keep the decreasing static.

I have tried the hats on a number of heads and it has fit all well… the larger the head, the shorter the hat becomes. So, do not make a shorter version for someone with a larger head, please, or it may be more of a Beanie.

The Hat & Cowl can easily be knit in FINGERING, SPORT, or DK weights.
