Dragons appear in so many stories from all over the world, and they have always fascinated me. They are magical, can spit fire, can fly, and depending on the lore, they have many other fascinating abilities. So, I decided to create a few designs inspired by them.

Water Dragon is the last pattern in a series of dragon-inspired shawls and scarves.

This wrap has a slim garter stitch body, which drapes nicely around your shoulders or neck due to the placement of the increases. Then you double your stitches for a ruffled lace edging with a dragon-scale pattern. The lace is a 16 stitch repeat over 10 rows. The construction means all shaping happens in the garter stitch section, making this suitable for intermediate or adventurous beginner lace knitters.

Instructions about how to adjust the size or to make the most of a gradient yarn are included.

Special thanks to Gannet Designs, who created the dragon-scale stitch pattern.
