The inspiration for the Waterfall Hearts Wrap design was from the Lovely Stitches Vol 2 – 35 Lace Cables e-book by stitch designer Annie Maloney. Annie is an innovative stitch designer who has been publishing original stitch pattern collections for several years. Her most recent publications are a series of e-book stitch collections with the theme name Lovely Stitches.
Her stitch pattern “Number 23” was the inspiration for the Waterfall Hearts Wrap. The original stitch pattern has been simplified, and my version is shown in the detail photos.
Overlapping lace hearts encircle both cables and columns of decorative twisted stitches. Shaped in a crescent with short rows, the wrap sits gracefully on the shoulders. The lacy hearts create a waterfall effect, cascading down into a border of ‘triangle-shaped’ lace and twisted stitches. The short-row patterning is alternating columns of purl and twisted stitches, which resemble mini-cables.
Pattern was professionally tech edited by Robin Melanson.
