This shoulder wrap was inspired by the reflections of the Anchorage skyline and mountains in the water at the edge of the city. The openings in the center and the undulating waves of the lace pattern remind me of the mountains themselves as well as of the ripples in the water when a light breeze is blowing. The dark blue yarn represents the view at night and the deep color of the cold water, with the eyelets as the lights that sparkle in the windows and the reflection.

This shawl is worked in the round, in two halves from the center outward to the edging. The first half begins with a long tail cast on over two needles held together. The lace sections are charted, and a crochet bind off allows the pattern of eyelets to extend all the way to the edge of the piece. The second half is worked in the same manner, beginning with a long tail cast on that is joined to the original cast on between motifs.
