Watermelon Crawl
Summer is travelling time and although many think it isn’t the weather for knitting, in fact travel time is the best! I am never caught without a sock cast on in my bag. Whether it be that I am waiting for an appointment or a plane or on the highway in the passenger seat, socks are a great project to keep handy. They are usually completed with a single skein. They are small enough to not take up too much room. If the pattern is simple, they are easily dropped and picked up again as time allows. Finally, they are small enough to not be adding heat when the weather is plenty hot enough.
These socks were designed with all of the above in mind. This pattern is simple enough for the novice sock knitter to follow with detailed written instructions. It is also interesting enough for the intuitive experienced sock knitter, who will be able to refer to the directions occasionally for minor direction once the pattern is established. Sock is published in 2 sizes. The pattern is suited to many yarn colours but is best suited to a medium to light colour way allowing the stitch work to stand out. The construction of a short row heel, in a contrasting colour ensures that a gradient is not interrupted if that is your chosen colour way preference An alternate heel of your choice could be worked if you care to adapt the pattern.
