The shawl is worked from the top down starting at the center back. It uses two strands of Malabrigo Lace yarn held together, and four colors are combined in this design to create a smooth color gradient.

Holding two strands (each a different color after beginning with two strands of the first color) means that the colors change slowly and flow gently one into the other. It also means that, except for the last color, there is not even the tiniest of leftovers.

MATERIALS

  • Yarn: Malabrigo Lace; lace weight; 470 yards / 430 m per 50 g skein; 100% Merino Wool (held double)
  • Hook: U.S. 7 (4.5 mm)
  • 1 stitch marker
  • Yarn needle to weave in ends

YARDAGE

  • 1 skein each in 083 Water Green and 028 Blue Surf
  • 2 skeins each in 032 Jewel Blue and 088 Indigo

GAUGE (BLOCKED)
