Wavebreak
The pattern for Wavebreak was originally published (under the name “Daybreak”) by Life in the Long Grass, in their Summer Mists, River Swim publication. Kits for the design can be found on the LITLG website.
Wavebreak explores the beautiful textures of the sea through a combination of traditional and more unusual techniques, creating a unique and elegant garment. The centremost feature consists of a layer of delicate mohair lace worked over the top of stockinette, bordered above and below with intricate, textured details, echoing the frothing, foaming texture of waves breaking at the shoreline. The garment is worked top-down, in the round, with a range of options to customise the design as you work and short row shaping incorporated in the yoke and body to ensure a comfortable, flattering fit – a perfect complement to the elegant design.
SAMPLE
The wearer is 5’10” with a 37” chest circumference. The sample has been worked in size L, giving 7” of positive ease at the chest. The sample has been worked to pattern, with ~2” length added to the body and sleeve lengths to allow for the height of the wearer.
