From the book: “In a blending of attributes of various time periods of kimono history, I have created a kimono with clean graphic images of water in kata suso pictorial embellishment at shoulder and hem areas with a hint of the formal padded hem of the uchikake unbelted outer robe. Paradoxically, the somewhat mottled texture of the cotton gives the garment a more casual look than these formal elements would indicate.”
Note on Size: The pattern states that the finished circumference of the robe is 48” (122 cm) with a 1” (2.5 cm) space at the front. The finished length is 40” (101.5 cm).
Note on Yarn: The pattern suggests three colors of Mission Falls 1824 cotton, as listed below:
- (MC) #401 chicory, 18 balls (1512 yds/1386 m)
- (CC1) #300 lichen, 8 balls (672 yds/616 m)
- (CC2) #103 pebble, 5 balls (420 yds/385 m)
