We are one plus one
This pattern, is the sister pattern to ‘We are one - Joining the dots’. It was designed for everyone, all dimensions, genders and budgets. I have used a very simple textured stitch pattern which looks a bit different depending on the yarn you choose. Should you use a budget yarn or a budget busting one? The answer is, your choice, as long as you swatch and match the gauge. I knitted this second sample garment, shown here, for me, in a sumptuous superwash merino. It’s my favourite fabric, and I love the way it feels when I knit with it and wear it. Added bonus, it goes in the washing machine.
This pattern provides instructions in number of rows, rather than measurements in in/ cm because superwash merino is stretchy.
People make yarn choices based on a range of things – I get that. Pick the version of this pattern, for the yarn that works for you and your choice of fit. If you are new to knitting, this pattern features easy options, YouTube advice on size selection and fit, and links to knitting tutorial videos. See my YouTube channel, TabithaTuesdayknits - YouTube, if you need to, for advice on swatching, gauge and adjusting the pattern to fit.
This super-quick knit is for an adventurous advanced beginner, someone who is new to seamless knitting or an intermediate level knitter. This design comes in 9 sizes from XS to 5XL. This top is seamlessly knitted from the bottom up starting at the hem. The advantage of this is it is a more intuitive way to work for traditional, old-school knitters like me. However, you can still try it on as you go when the shoulder ‘seams’ are joined and choose the arm length depending on your preference. This is important because this uses a drop shoulder construction, so the amount of shoulder overhang affects the sleeve length and possibly width. The sleeves are picked up at the end, after the shoulder seams are joined. There are multiple options to adjust personalise the fit.
A key aspect of this design in super chunky is the shoulder ‘seams’. These are there for structural stability. I’ve used a 3-needle bind-off at the shoulder/body join, to make the seam stronger so that the garment holds its shape, but you don’t have to. See my YouTube channel for how to do this. You can also use a traditional seaming method if you prefer.
This pattern also includes a slick option for people who prefer an integrated pocket, also on YouTube. I used a simple crochet stitch at the top of the pockets – again optional. Too complicated? Don’t do it! I’ve also provided a link for button lovers.
