In this Mystery Crochet Along I will be introducing you, week by week over a three-week period, to a brand-new outfit for the standard-size Weebee Doll – a free doll pattern (please see the link below).
Created to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026, this special outfit is inspired by the colours, symbols, and festive spirit of this historic milestone. Although the Weebee Doll patterns are designed in the UK, a large part of the Weebee community has long been based in the United States. Over the years, American crocheters have embraced the Weebee designs, shared their creativity, and helped make the Weebee Dolls what they are today.
The pattern is intended as a celebration of 250 years of American history, heritage, and craftsmanship, and is not connected to any political party, political movement, or current political events. My hope is that it can be enjoyed by anyone who appreciates crochet, creativity, and commemorating this historic anniversary.
At its heart, this is a celebration-themed outfit that I think will lend itself beautifully to many different colour combinations and interpretations.
I can’t wait to see how members of the Weebee community around the world make the design their own.
Please note that this MCAL includes the outfit and accessories only.
You will need to prepare a standard-size Weebee Doll before this MCAL starts. You can find the free doll pattern here. The doll will need a hair cap suitable for headwear. I used the hair cap from the Spring Festival pattern, and a code is included in the Welcome PDF for this MCAL allowing you to purchase that pattern at 50% off. However, the free hair cap included with the doll pattern will work perfectly well if you prefer to use that version.
MCAL Facebook Group
You can share your progress and ask any questions about the MCAL in the Facebook group specially set up for it here.
Hook with confidence!
All aspects of this MCAL pattern have been tested and proofread by several talented and experienced crocheters. However, in the event that you do find an error in any part of the MCAL, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will amend it as soon as possible.
How will this Mystery Crochet Along work?
A crochet along involves a group of people all working on the same pattern at the same time and at the same pace. The mystery element of this crochet along is that you won’t know exactly what you are making until the final week.
This MCAL will begin on Saturday 13th June 2026
Updates will be posted in the form of a further PDF to your Ravelry Library and/or email address (if you do not have a Ravelry account) every Saturday for the following two weeks. You will also receive an email and a Ravelry message (if you have a Ravelry account) to let you know when an update has been posted.
Schedule
Part 1: Saturday 13th June 2026
Part 2: Saturday 20th June 2026
Part 3: Saturday 27th June 2026
At some point after the MCAL has ended, I will remove the four PDFs – the Welcome PDF and Parts 1, 2 and 3 – and replace them with the complete pattern. I will also rename the pattern. Again, you will receive an update to let you know when this has taken place. You will still be able to access the pattern even though its name will have changed.
Mystery Crochet Along FAQs
What yarn colours will I need?
These are included in the Welcome PDF you receive when you purchase the pattern.
Do I have to use the suggested colours?
Not at all! The suggested colours reflect the inspiration behind the design, but you are welcome to use any colour combination you wish.
Do I have to make anything beforehand?
You will need to prepare a standard-size Weebee Doll before this MCAL starts. The doll will also need a hair cap suitable for headwear.
Is everything I need instruction-wise included in the MCAL pattern?
Yes - apart from the base doll and a hair cap, please see above.
When does the MCAL start?
Saturday 13th June 2026. I will post the first part as soon as I wake up here in the UK on that date.
When does the discount for the MCAL end?
Midnight on Friday 12th June 2026 UK time, just before the MCAL starts.
Can I still purchase the pattern after the MCAL starts?
Yes. You can buy the pattern at any time after the MCAL begins, but it will return to full price once the MCAL has started.
Do I have to come online at a certain time to join in?
No. You have a full week to complete each part, or you can complete it entirely at your own pace. If you have any questions or would like to share your progress photos, head to the Facebook group (see above).
Do I have to pay weekly for the MCAL?
No. The price you pay is for the entire pattern. You will then receive updates each week via email and via Ravelry message if you were logged into your account when you purchased the pattern.
I’m not sure whether I will like the pattern. Can you tell me more about it?
I’m afraid not, because this is a mystery MCAL. If you have enjoyed my previous patterns, I hope you will enjoy this one too. Alternatively, you could wait for the first part or two to be released before deciding whether to join in, but of course you will miss out on the discount available before the MCAL starts.
