Weekend Coffee Cardigan
A lightweight cardigan with an oversized fit, this pattern works best with a yarn that hangs well and has a bit of swing to it. To me, this cardigan feels like a going-to-the-farmer’s-market or meeting-a-friend-for-coffee or reading-in-a-sunny-spot kind of casual top.
Yarn: It’s knit with DK-weight yarn. The green & greyish-purple cardigan was knit with FibraNatura Cottonwood yarn (from 6 to 10 balls depending on sizing). The blue & orange cardigan was knit with Paton’s Silk Bamboo yard (from 6 to 10 balls as well).
Needles and Notions: You will need 4.5 mm needles (you can use circular or a combination of straight and double-pointed) for this pattern. Most of the pattern is worked flat, but the edging around the sleeves is knit in the round (sleeve edging could be worked flat if preferred). Seaming is done with a 4.5 mm crochet hook, which results in a visible seam (if you prefer, you may sew the seam).
Level: This cardigan would make a great project for someone who’s learned the basics and is ready to try something harder than a scarf, but easier than socks!
