Every year growing up, I would look forward to the television showing of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, narrated by Boris Karloff. It’s still a favorite, even as I now have the entire thing memorized. So here it is…

Skill-level: Adventurous beginner. The hat itself is very simple, and the trees use basic increases and decreases.
Materials: DK weight yarn in the following ammounts—Approximately 70-90 yards of Color 1 (red, in photo), 100-120 yards of Color 2 (white in photo), and 20-30 yards of Color 3 (green in photo), possibly odd bits and leftovers for decorating the trees
Needles: US 5 (3.75mm)& US 7 (4.5mm), suitable for working in the round (Sample was worked using the magic loop method, long DPNs would also work fine)
Tools: Measuring tape, tapestry needle, scissors, pompom tool— or similar (optional)
Gauge: 22 stitches, 32 rounds per 4 inches or 10 cm.
Sizing: Hat is available in Small (Medium, Large, Extra-large) sizes, measuring approximately 16.75 (18, 19.5, 21) inches in circumference. But the sizing here is EXTREMELY flexible. Work a standard plain vanilla hat that fits and attach the trees.
