This beautiful reversible edging from ca. 1890 Weldon’s Practical Needlework, vol. 2, p.5, has an 8-row repeat. It was intended as an edging for a rectangular shawl using Weldon’s Tansy Pattern but use it as you like! The edging starts with 17 stitches, increases to 24 stitches over 7 rows and returns to 17 stitches on row 8. Tansy Border edging can be blocked straight or curved, depending on the project.
The swatch is 2.75 inches wide when measured at one of the points at gauge.

Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, purl, YO, k2tog, SK2P and bind off in knit stitch.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.

42 yards of #10 crochet thread will make about 10 inches of this edging in the stated gauge.
